LiveWire Bring the Thunder in a High-Voltage Night of Rock – Reviw & Photos by John Rawstron

Over the years, I have seen quite a few AC/DC tribute bands, but never have I seen such a spectacular performance as what Livewire put on. I last saw Livewire a few years ago, and when I heard they were coming back to Norwich, I just had to apply to photograph them.   Upon arrival at the venue, the crowd was already heaving, with more people arriving by the second. Then Livewire entered the stage, with Podge on Vocals, Dan on Rhythm Guitar, Cliff on Bass, Paul on Drums.

Livewire played all the classics that you would expect from a AC/DC Tribute band, and with every pitch perfect note came the exact mannerisms of actual AC/DC, in fact if you closed your eyes, you would think you would be seeing AC/DC live. When the very beginning rift of “Back In Black” started playing, I wanted to jump for joy as that very track is my ringtone.

Livewire and played other brilliant tracks such as “Dirty Deeds”, “Whole Lotta Rosie”, which got an already energetic crowd, even more pumping, and Thunderstruck.  Along with other classics, which were performed 100%. I have been to endless gigs over the years, but Livewire have to be at the top of the list, every song was exceptional, the mannerisms & vocals from Podge, were an exact replica of Brian Johnson.

The energy & Schoolboy antics from Dan was absolutely mind-blowing, being able to dart up and down the stage, layed on his back whilst still playing and then more running up and down the stage, not to mention a jump at ever final beat of the drum, for 22 songs straight, made me question where does he get that amount of adrenaline from.

Throughout the entire performance from Livewire you felt that you were actually watching and listening to AC/DC live.  The 600+ crowd of people of all ages, it is great to see people in their Teens, singalong to all the sounds as well, it goes to show how iconic AC/DC is, and you couldn’t ask for a better tribute act to, than from Livewire.

It is no wonder they have been touring for over 20 years.  If you ever get as chance to see them perform, then do so, as you are in for one of the best nights of your life. there was ever any doubt that the spirit of AC/DC can be recreated on stage, LiveWire put it firmly to rest with a blistering performance that delivered all the power, energy and attitude of the legendary Australian rock giants.

From the moment the band launched into their opening number, the atmosphere was electric. Packed with classic hits, crushing riffs and infectious singalong moments, LiveWire had the audience hooked from the first chord. The band’s attention to detail was impressive, capturing not only the sound of AC/DC but also the swagger and showmanship that have made the originals one of the world’s greatest rock bands.

The lead vocalist was outstanding, effortlessly channelling both the raw grit and charisma that AC/DC fans know and love, while the lead guitarist tore across the stage with boundless energy, delivering scorching solos and plenty of trademark duckwalks to the delight of the crowd.

A thunderous, energetic and hugely entertaining show from start to finish.
